Happy Birthday to you ~~and many more~~~ Jitterbuggin

This week, you need to follow the sketch, make it a birthday card, and add some rickrack somewhere. Don't forget you can cut rickrack with your Cricut too........ Use that Cricut for something....be creative....and have fun!

Here is what I came up with!!!  I used b is for boy  for my little cut out  the car at 3" and the little boy at 2" . I used Plantin School book in design studio for the rick rack.  The Happy Birthday I did using the simply charmed cartridge on my imagine and flood filled it with some paper from Best Friends on the imagine for the sentiment!!  My paper came from a stack I picked up at Ollies a while ago called more than just paper pack Boy Paper Pad.  It really has some cute papers in it!!  Funny it almost matches the colors used in the sketch.  I just got the embossing pad I used called seeing spots for the cuddlebug!!!   I am always looking for a little boys cards and this one will do just fine!!!  Thanks for looking and go check out the challenge!!http://jitterbugginchallenge.blogspot.com/

S is my Initial.....

I decided to try my hand at a monogram card!!!  So since this was a test one I did my initial!!!!  All the cuts were made with the storybook cartridge.  I welded different swirls together to get the base  frame and then layered the rest and embossed a few with the Swiss dots embossing folder to give it some definition between layers.  I really love to add pearls and bling to my cards to give an added soft touch!!!  I followed the second sketch in Raq's challenge over on the Cricut Message Boards!!!!  They always have such fun sketches.  Even though I don't always follow along I sure do use there thread as a go to for a little nudge or inspiration from all the talented ladies that post!!!!  I made my envelope for this because it would need a stiff envelope to protect it!!  (used the just because cart and cream cardstock)  thanks for taking a look!!!

Thank you to Larelyn Sartini for your thoughtfulness!!!

It always gives me a warm feeling when someone goes out of their way to make my day by saying or doing something so thoughtful!!!  I started making cards as an outlet for stress and expression in the craft related world.  I have always done some type of craft and found that paper crafting gave quick gratification to me!!!  I spend many hours a day (as much as I can)  going from blog to blog and different messageboards looking at all the beautiful work others do to inspire me and appreciate when others share their work and also instruct others how they get the results of their work!!!  I am humbled that you choose me Larelyn.

It is to be given to crafters with talent that you admire but you feel do not get the recognition they deserve.   The rules are to pass it on to three more bloggers.  (Just right-click and save to your desktop)

Tatiana: whose work is so creative and wonderful that she inspires me with all of the work that she does!!!

Vivi:  whose lovely work speaks for itself

Glenda:  who could never get enough praise or recognition for her lovely work!!!

I hope all of you who read this will visit their blogs and see why I am passing this on to them as Larelyn did for me!!!  They are just three who deserve the recognition and I find more daily as I look and search daily!!

Papercraft Star Challenge 33

I always follow and look at all the wonderful work on this blog but have never entered one of my cards in a challenge.  I so enjoy challenges because they push me into doing things I never really do most of the time!!!  I used a paper pad with die cuts from Me and My Big Ideas called Celebrations on this one and added some bows and buttons to follow the sketch they have for this week.  Its hard to tell but there is a tag on this that was a die from the paper pack.  I always can use a generic birthday card in my stash so I just had fun with mixing the printed papers and dies to follow along with the sketch.  Easy and quick.

This took me less than a half hour from start to finish!!!!  Thanks for looking!!!

Using up the scraps and leftovers....

The odds and ends in my craft room are taking over!!!  I needed a birthday card and decided to use some leftovers I had along with some new products to create a birthday card for my mother in law.  We have so many birthdays in January and February I cant believe it!!!  The only cricut I used was for the white heart that I found in Don Quan, that I crimped, that matched the hearts already on the K&Company card package.   I had purchased this pack  for some valentine cards that I loved the vintage cut in the kit.  I always see these beautiful cards on scrapbook.com and get so inspired by them!!!  I really need alot more practice on my stamping though.  It blurrrred a little not as crisp as I would have liked it to be but I think it had alot to do with the stamp and not having the right embossing ink I wanted.  Well you know what they say practice makes perfect.  Thanks for stopping by and any suggestions would be so helpful for my stamping experiences!!!!  Now to find or make an envelop for this as its so dimensional!!

You Make My Heart Sing

I am trying to use my imagine more and more to get use to it!!!  I love how it cuts and love filling in the colors of the different cuts I use by changing up patterns and rbg codes to get the look I have in my head.  Now that is a scary thing!!  This card I am submitting into jitterbuggin challenge this week for the black and white and red allover challenge.  You have to use three hearts also!!!  These cuts came from the Better Together cartridge.  I used some stickles and layered with popdots and inked the cuts up for dimension.  I so love the weekly challenges on this site and encourage others to give them a try!!!  http://jitterbugginchallenge.blogspot.com/

How old would you be?????

This is my Aunts birthday card for her 79th birthday card!!  When I saw this cut on Carol's creations blog I knew I had to use it for my aunts birthday!!  She has a little dog just like this named Maggie!!!  I didn't have the cart but my daughter in law did so I borrowed it and used the cut!!  Lots of cute things on this cart I can tell I will be borrowing it more!!!!  My aunt has a memory problem and we are always joking that she forgets how old she is (not really)  but she sure does use that as an excuse!!  I used several paper packs on this and I cant for the life of me remember which company except for the background paper is me and my big ideas "celebrate"  paper collection!!!  Thanks for stopping by and taking a look and what i have been up to and please stop back and say howdy!!!

Sketch 33 A non traditional Valentine

I have been playing in my head on how to do a non traditional valentine.  The challenge was no red or pink!!!
Dang I was really stumped!!  Well this card is romantic looking but I definitely stayed away from the traditional colors that represent Valentines Day!!  I really loved the sketch so I did follow along with that.  The cricut cuts are the frame and the borders across the bottom of the card.  These came from the imagine yummy cart and imagine more cartridge.  I did buu some new butterfly and heart stamps and stamped those on patterned paper and cut out by hand. I embossed the frame with the cuddlebug and painted with acrylic and inked.  You cant really see but I brushed some perfect pearls copper to give it a worn look!!  Martha Stewarts butterfly punch rounded off the card with the little black butterflies.  I know this isn't quirky but it is for me!!!  The inside says the answer to the quote in the frame "I married you".  I am going to give this mushy card to my hubby!!!!!

Thanks for looking!!!!

XOXOXO Smiley face card

Recipe:  Gypsy Smiley face cart
              Doodlecharms cartridge
TPC Studios Hugs and kisses clear Stamps ST904019
               Distress Inks
               Red bakers twine
               button
               small designer paper clip

I so love the cuts from the freebie for the gypsy!!! Now that they have a manual I could take a closer look at what was on the cart in a size I could see!!! I made this card at 4.5 from the card feature and cut the XO at 2.5 and one of the little sentiment bubbles at various levels. The heart is from doodle charms which i used to cover the existing heart so I could double side it!!! I cut the circles in half 4.5 to layer my flaps!!! It is a little bulky so i attached a little clip to keep it closed to put in the envelope. This is kind of a tri fold card maybe a quad fold card hahahaa!

I so enjoyed this one and think I will try some different cuts in it to make another!!!
Thanks for stopping by and looking!  Hope this encourages others to take a closer look what is on their cartridges!!!!

Next time I will use the hide/contour on the gypsy to hide those annoying little slits!!!!!!!!

You Have my Heart

I so love the vintage look!!!!  Valentine day just calls to me to make one and try a few different things to see if I can do that!!!  I wanted to see if my imagine could cut chip board which I was afraid to do because I didn't want to mess up my machine.  I have to say I was impressed with it and I didn't have to change out my blade or multi-cut it numerous times to get a clean cut!!!   I embossed it with a script cuddle bug folder, painted it the color I wanted it and distressed it with vintage photo distress ink.  I wanted a slight sparkle so I glimmer misted it.  K 7 Company has some of the cutest cut vintage cut outs and this little girl was so adorable. I found a couple cuts on the imagine more cartridge that  i used and distressed .  I am still am learning sizing.  The base of the frame is from the same cart.  All in all I am pleased with the way this card came out but still have so much to learn and try.  I am so enjoying myself and challenge all to give a old fashion vintage look to one of your cards!!!  Thanks for looking and stopping by......  till next time!!!

~~Happy Birthday to my MOM~~

My mom turns 81 today and I wanted to make her a special card!!!  She lost my dad a year ago and I want so much to make her day special for her!!  When dad passed i moved her in with husband and myself because she is no longer able to quite take care of herself..  Dad played the most important role in her life and she has been somewhat lost without him!!!  So today like everyone else in my family I always make their favorite meal a desert of their choosing and a special card and present just from me!!!  Not only is this day special to her but with all the difficulty in adjusting to each other on a daily basis it is special to me because of the years I was not able to spend her birthday with her due to distance of where we live!!!  Happy Birthday Mom you are very special to me!!!!!

I used SYI and Serenade carts for this card !!!  Embossed the birdcage with Tim Holtz distress embossing powders.  Anyone recognize the little felt birds from the $1 bin at M's????  This card was inspired from a card I saw on scrapbook.com which I go to often when my mojo is absent for the day!!!!!  Thanks for looking!!!
